Derek Barr – Chairman
Derek was managing director of Barr & Murphy Ltd, a specialist engineering company, before successfully selling it to a large international engineering group, GEA. He remained with GEA for 5 years as a senior manager and consultant. Having seen the effect and cost of disputes, Derek became an accredited mediator in 1999 and joined the InterMediation Group in 2000. Derek is an established ‘angel’ and sits on a number of other boards. He is a past President of the London Business School’s Enterprise 100 Club.
Simon Goldhill - Director
Simon practiced as a commercial litigation solicitor for over 20 years specialising in project-managing and resolving complex high-value disputes. Before joining Peter and Derek to launch InterResolve, he had previously established businesses in the legal sector as well as being a partner in and head of department of a leading London firm of solicitors. He also sits on the boards of two successfully growing companies in the not-for- profit sector.
Peter Ashdown-Barr – Chief Executive Officer
Peter, the founder and driving force behind InterResolve, previously founded the InterMediation Group, a leading UK mediation organisation (now a subsidiary of the InterResolve Group) and created and ran the Claims Mediation Centre at Lloyd’s of London. Previously, he ran a successful consultancy, Lawyers Financial Management, for more than 20 years acting for law firms and working with them on their financial models and as an expert on the management of litigation and complex legal costs disputes.
John Gunner – Company Secretary
John has public and private sector experience in healthcare, local government and marine areas. With an LLM specialising in commercial ADR, he contributes to various legal and professional publications, and is regularly consulted by government and professional bodies on ADR. John is also a mediator and joined the InterMediation Group in 1996.

Sir Philip Otton – 20 Essex Street
Sir Philip was appointed as a High Court Judge (Queen’s Bench Division) in 1983, to the Court of Appeal in 1985 and to the Court of Appeal in Gibraltar in 2004. He continues to sit in the Privy Council and the Court of Appeal (on occasions). He was President of the Society of Construction Law, President of the Personal Injury Bar Association and is an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Judicial Administration Birmingham University.
Professor Maurice Biriotti - CEO of SHM Productions Ltd
Maurice set up SHM in 1996 after finishing full-time academia teaching culture and media at the Universities of Cambridge, Birmingham and Barcelona. Maurice has advised a range of clients on their media strategy and information structures including BBC, Thomas Cook, Carlton Communications, Kingston Communications, Orange, EMAP Digital, Barclays Bank, Philips and ICI.
Dr Marlene Winfield OBE - NHS Information Authority
Marlene Winfield is Head of Public Engagement for the National Programme for IT in the NHS, a member of its Board, and a member of the NHS Information Technology Task Force. She was previously Head of Patient and Citizen Relations at the NHS Information Authority.

Tony William - Principal - Jomati Consulting
Tony Williams has more than twenty five years experience in the legal business. As principal of Jomati, a specialist legal management consultancy, Tony has advised major international law firms on strategic management and legal issues. Prior to that, Tony was worldwide managing partner of Andersen Legal and head of its UK practice and managing partner of Clifford Chance for 17 years, culminating in the mergers with Rogers and Wells in New York and Punder in Germany to create the world's largest law firm.
